We’re Attempting to Contact the FDA
One month ago today, we started a movement to fight for affordable access to GLP-1s.
In that time, we’ve gathered over 14,000 signatures, raised more than $1,000 in promotions, secured three media interviews, and collected 53 heartfelt comments and videos from advocates sharing why this issue matters so deeply to them.
Today, we took another crucial step forward. We contacted the FDA for the second time, demanding urgent action to protect and secure affordable access to these life-changing medications.
Tomorrow, the FDA is set to decide whether Tirzepatide will remain on the shortage list.
This could be devastating. Without the protection of the shortage list, access to Tirzepatide will be limited to the privileged few — those with excellent insurance plans or the means to pay exorbitant out-of-pocket costs.
Thousands of people could lose access entirely at a time when insurance companies are already preparing to cut GLP-1 coverage in 2025.
However, Tirzepatide isn’t the only GLP-1 facing these challenges.
The reality is, Semaglutide isn’t entirely safe from these same threats either.
The cost remains prohibitive for many, insurance coverage is inconsistent and fragile, and compounded options for semaglutide are also at risk.
Without intervention, the possibility of losing affordable access to both Tirzepatide and Semaglutide is all too real.
This fight is about more than just tomorrow’s decision — it’s about securing permanent affordable access to both Tirzepatide and Semaglutide, which have become essential for so many.
Whether it’s:
Ensuring compounding options for these medications remain available indefinitely
Bringing down the cost of brand-name versions — to truly reasonable prices (not temporarily with coupons that eventually run out)
Securing nationwide insurance coverage without the constant fear of losing it
Or creating FDA-regulated generic alternatives
What matters most is that people have consistent, affordable options to GLP-1s!
No one should have to live in fear that their medication will suddenly become unaffordable because compounded versions are cut off or because their insurance company decides to pull the plug.
The American people deserve more than quick fixes or incomplete measures.
We demand permanent, affordable access to these critical medications for everyone who needs them.
Together, we are taking steps to make this a reality! 💪
